Alastair Darling gave his first Pre-Budget Speech earlier this week, with one headline being the changes to CGT rules from 6th April 2008.

At the time of going to press, the implications of these are still being examined but the following people would seem to be affected:

·         Companies with shareholders who wish to exit the business and pay as little tax as possible

·         Those who are considering selling their business in the next few years

·         Self-employed people who are either higher rate taxpayers or who are thinking of selling their business within the next five years

·         Those who have been trading using a limited liability partnership with a limited company partner for more than two years

·         Anyone considering property investment in the foreseeable future
