Approaching deadline for PAYE returns – 19th May.

According to software firm Sage 28% of firms are risking fines because they are unaware of the approaching deadline for submitting payroll year-end tax returns.

Many firms appear to be oblivious to the 19th May cut off point for PAYE returns and companies that miss the deadline date face potential fines of £100 per month the return is outstanding, per 50 employees.

The poll also confirmed that a number of firms are unaware that by the year 2010 it will be compulsory for all businesses to submit their payroll year-end returns via the Internet.  If you have fewer than 50 employees and you file online now, you will receive a tax free credit of £150 so it is worthwhile making that deadline!
